Warren Miller’s “Children of Winter” is HERE!! Print E-mail
Written by Jackie Williams

After watching this year’s Warren Miller film “Children of Winter”, I am more than ready to hit the mountains! The annual film featured a variety of breathtaking and scenic places all around the world to play in the snow: Alaska, Vermont, Austria, Utah, Sun Valley, Steamboat, Leadville, Oregon, Crested Butte, Japan, Vancouver, and Iceland. I was especially excited when I saw the footage at Crested Butte. I was there during that huge snowstorm that brought on the most powder ever!

Hard core skiers and snowboarders have all been waiting for the annual Warren Miller film to stoke them up for the season. If you haven’t heard of Warren Miller, now is the time to see why - the world's largest action sports film, which is set to music by Radiohead, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Beck, and others, is shown in crystal-clear high definition. The film tour crisscrosses the nation and nine countries worldwide.

I got an advance copy of “Children of Winter” and had a pre-release party to watch it and get a few reactions as to some favorite parts:
  • Alaska snowboarding, meeting at a boat and then taking a helicopter to the steepest mountains! Sea level to 10,000 feet, and extreme snow!
  • Iceland – true adventures, sailing to skiing – who would have thought? Let’s go!
  • Loved the music, scenery, and humor. Of special interest, getting to know the band and skiers in Vermont. And seeing my home state of Bend, Oregon was great!
  • Skijoring in Leadville! Definitely checking that out next year!
  • Enough powder to make you hope for a long, long winter!
  • The full speed “tree hug”.
  • Since I’m so into surfing, Gerry Lopez was a highlight.
  • Crested Butte! I was there, it was awesome!

Don’t miss out the spectacular footage with jaw-dropping performances by an impressive assembly of world-class athletes, including Jonny Moseley, Daron Rahlves, Marco Sullivan, Seth Wescott, Gerry Lopez, and Wendy Fisher.

With the purchase of every ticket you’ll get free lift tickets to various resorts (except in Steamboat). It’s definitely worth the time and money to see. By the end of the film, you’ll already be talking about your next trip!
